Decluttering Every Space Starts in Your Mind!

Decluttering every space starts in your mind is a guide to show you how everything begins with a thought, whether it is decluttering your home, switching jobs, or planning a vacation.

How does your living environment make you feel? Are you living the dream? My home is my nest where I reside with my 2 puppies. As soon as I enter my neighborhood I feel a calm come over me. I get as excited walking into my sweet little home today as I did when I bought my house 28 years ago!

Are you ready to change?

If living in your home is anything less than peaceful it is time to make some changes.

So yes decluttering spaces starts with your mind. Every positive change starts with a positive thought. Decluttering goes hand in hand with change.

Simple changes can be life-changing

About 40 years ago I decided my life may run a lot smoother if I made some simple changes. This was not easy. In theory, change is simple. By sticking with my decision and reviewing my goal daily I was able to change my life significantly.

By deciding to implement change, one simple change, I put myself on a path that is today beyond the beyond. I have been to places I never even knew existed and done things I had never heard of. It all begins with a thought!

Decide what your ideal space is

Whether you live in a single room or a large home you deserve to enjoy peace in your space. If you don’t you are a decision away from changing this. If your living space is not the comfortable nest you want it to be it is up to you to decide to change this.

I am sure you can accomplish this because I continually witness doubters convert to believers.

Being ridiculously organized seems to be in my DNA and comes as naturally to me as breathing. I am here to guide you through my tried and true process. I have used these skills to help others break free of the clutter, chaos, and the circular-thinking that goes nowhere.

Grab a pen and paper – or keyboard, and describe your ideal room. Now describe a realistic version of this room that you can begin to make today. It is this simple.

Deciding what you want is the first step.

Be done with clutter, chaos, and circular-thinking that goes nowhere.

I can hear your excuses from here!

  • no time
  • no money
  • no ideas
  • I’m just renting
100 dollar bills flying in the air against a blue sky and white clouds

None of those excuses are valid. Turn your thinking around. For example:

  • Use the time you are scrolling and streaming to change your room and your life.
  • Not everything costs any or a lot of money. Be creative.
  • There are plenty of ideas in the world to choose from.
  • Renters deserve peace too.

New habits start in your mind

Some of us are naturally cheery and positive and some of us are not. It is really easy to turn a negative idea into a positive thought. Just change a few words and a new habit is formed! Don’t get tripped up that you don’t believe your new positive twist on things. That will come. Start practicing.

Turn ‘I can’t’ into ‘I can’ or at the very least ‘I will try’.

Not having enough time and money are very real situations for many of us. Not only can you still be at peace you deserve to be peaceful.

Living with less stress starts in your mind

If you think living with stress does not affect your physical health read about cortisol levels and the negative effects stress has on everything including your autoimmune system.

Everyone is creative

You say you are not creative? Everyone is creative in some area. There is no shortage of ideas on Pinterest to name just one online venue of ideas. Find some pictures that sing to you and put your spin on it.

I trained myself a long time ago to find one positive thing in every image I looked at.

Never let your status as a renter curtail your mission to live in peace. There is so much temporary decor to choose from to make your nest comfortable.

The first step to everything we discussed starts with decluttering. You will be amazed to see that just the act of getting rid of stuff will endear you to your surroundings in a way you cannot imagine.

3 labeled black trash bags

So get started today! Grab 3 heavy-duty trash bags and label them Trash, Donate, and Sell. Pick up each item in your physical space and decide if you need this item. Do you use this thing regularly? If not put the object in one of the 3 labeled bags.

Rinse and repeat until the things that remain are either functional and used regularly or aesthetically pleasing to you.
